G'Day!

Well what a frantic week it has been here. My upcoming holiday and wedding coupled with my move overseas has meant I have not had enough time to write the advance issues of NetBloke for while I am away. So this will possibly be the last NetBloke for this month. I will definitely start sending them out again in the first week of May.

I had a lot of feedback on search engines after last weeks Site Recommendations. So this week I will list a few of your suggestions so the rest of the readers can try them out too.

I also thought I would list some of the Web sites I have used as resources for planning my trip to Hawaii. There are some great sites for activities listed too.

Finally I tell you all how Karissa and I got around the international nature of our wedding registry. Like all good computer geeks we registered online at a couple of stores! This has let the Australian side of the family easily purchase us gifts in America.

Anyway have a great month, and I hope to see you all subscribed still in May when I send the next issue out!

Web Site Review: Searching

Here are a few of the suggestions for search engines and search engine programs that some of your fellow readers have sent in.

Webferret is a program you download that allows you to get more accurate search results.

Mamma.com is another example of a Meta search engine.

www.mamma.com

Is a program you download (around 2.5Mb) and use to help you obtain more accurate search results.

Vivisimo organises the results from other search engines into meaningful groups.

Web Site Review: Hawaiian Activites

If anyone is thinking of going to Hawaii here are some of the sites that I have used to find places and activities. I am even using some to make my bookings!

This site is great for all manner of activities and for getting great deals and discounts.

www.tombarefoot.com

This one is a great general site for basic information.

www.gohawaii.com

I especially loved this site as it is complied by a couple who loved Hawaii so much that they moved there. They seek to tell people some of the out of the way places you wouldn't read about in a tourist brochure!

Web Site Review: Wedding Registries

Wedded bliss. That will be the state I will be in shortly. I have always found it fun as a wedding guest trying to get something meaningful or useful for the bride and groom, and with wedding registries this task is made all the easier!

Karissa and I picked a couple of online wedding registeries. One was Target.com and the other was Lazaus at WeddingChannel.com. We picked the first as it allows for international credit cards and the second as it was also local to a lot of Karissa's friends.

They are really quite handy for guests as all you have to do is type in the bride or groom's name and a list of preselected items come up.

Anyway anyone who is getting married or has kids getting married should check these types of services out. Here are the two we are using:

The Great Australian Joke

To end this cut down version of NetBloke here is a joke sent in from Greg Wheat. I just hope that I never go missing, or that my fiancee Karissa changes her opinion of me this much!

A wife went to the police station with her next-door neighbour to report that her husband was missing. The policeman asked for a description. She said, "He's 35 years old, 6 foot 4, has dark eyes, dark wavy hair, an athletic build, weighs 185 pounds, is soft-spoken, and is good to the children."

The next-door neighbour protested, "Your husband is 5 foot 4, chubby, bald, has a big mouth, and is mean to your children." The wife replied, "Yes, but who wants HIM back?"
