G'Day Blokes and Sheilas!

What a busy but fulfilling holiday season it was for me! It has given me a new found energy and zest for life! I cannot wait to share with you all my ideas for NetBloke and this newsletter over the next year. Having said that NetBloke is entering its fifth year of publishing newsletters and in concept is about ten years old!

With my new bed and breakfast, the Swantown Inn, has come a lot of new challenges, but also eventually I hope that it affords me the time to spend a solid day or two on NetBloke each week. So here are some of the ideas and things I have planned.

I think that makes a great start, and I believe they are all easily achievable goals. I have asked a good friend to help out with the forum integration and I am still working with the creator of the script I use for sending this newsletter. So hopefully you can see things are definitely on the right track.

As always remember you can email me with your questions, comments or criticism. I enjoy the feedback and that is why I have the site. Truth be told I do not make any money from it currently, but again that would be nice to change too!

Definition: Ten-Ounce Sandwich

Although I am not partial to one of these, back in Australia there are plenty of blokes that would gladly have a ten-ounce sandwich for lunch!

What on earth does it mean? Well it is having a beer for lunch!

Hardware Review: Samsung SCX-4100 Laser Printer, Scanner and Copier

This is a great Multi-Function product, put out by one of my favorite brands, Samsung. I was after something that was an all-in-one but without the fax feature. I just don't need it as I use eFax.

I refuse to buy inkjet products as they end up costing a small fortune in ink. Yes they might seem cheaper to buy, but to keep them stocked with ink is going to end up far exceeding your costs in running a laser product. This Samsung printer is great, new cartridges are around $80, but that is without me searching for a good deal online. My last laser toner cartridge lasted me around 3 years so that isn't going to hurt the hip pocket at all, although I expect my volume of printing to increase significantly with the new Inn to run.

A feature that had me excited was the copier function which makes the unit a one touch photocopier. It simply uses the built in scanner. So of course this unit also has a scanner for normal scanning use. This comes in handy for me when used in conjunction with my eFax service.

This compact unit cost a mere $199 (with a mail in rebate taking it down to $149), which is not bad considering it gives you the ability to scan, copy and print.

The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn't matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark.

Web Site Review: TravelZoo

I have mentioned a bargain deal through TravelZoo once before, however I think you really need to check out the site for yourself. There is just so many good deals every week!

The beauty of this site is that it is a repository for last minute and bargain deals for travel. These can be airfares, cruises, car rentals, or vacation packages. If it has to do with travel it will be on this site.

The listings are posted from travel agencies and also directly through the companies with the special pricing, this could be airlines or the like. Regardless they all seem to be reputable and I have taken advantage of the specials a couple of times myself.

A good example is flying to London for New York on British airways for $125. Now that is pretty amazing!

The Great Australian Joke: At the Australian Army Hospital

During the war, a British General visited an Australian Army Hospital. Sensing a doom and gloom atmosphere he tried to rally the men by asking "Now you men didn't come here to die did you?" To which an Aussie replied, "No sir, we came here yesterdie."
