G'Day Blokes and Sheilas!

Thanks to everyone on the feedback on the tweaks to my Web site. As everyone preferred my new simple two column design I applied the new style sheet to the web site over the weekend. I also took the time to reformat all of my old pages. So now everything should look great and be simple to alter.

I am always amazed at where this little newsletter leads me. Spencer Bryant shared his attempts at CSS with me and in the process revealed that he was a Seattle based Licensed Massage Practitioner. I have always wanted to complete a massage course and now I have someone I can get a trustworthy, unbiased opinion from!

It is a busy time for me at the moment, as I am working on a Duplex. Painting, laying a floor and generally fixing up one side for a new tenant (yet to be found). At the same time I am still trying to build a kayak. To add to the mix I bought an old VW Westfalia Camper which is currently at the mechanics being fixed but soon after will not gutting and rebuilding. So as always I have a lot on my plate.

I found out yesterday too that it was Hayden's first day at school and after speaking to her on the phone found out she is loving it.

Yes life is good. I hope your enjoying it as much as I am!

Have a bonza day!

Nathan Allan

Definition: CSS

CSS is shorthand for Cascading Style Sheets. This is a way of defining how a web page should look. It is best known for its ability to define a pages font, font size, color and the like. However it can also be used to define the layout of a page.

Web Site Review: CSS Layout Sites

Here are some links to templates and tutorials that are synonymous with CSS. I used them when I was learning the basics, and now I pass these on to you so you too can learn the benefits and code.

You can lawfully use the templates if you do not have the time to learn the complexities of coding your own CSS layouts.

Software Savvy: Layout Master

This is a nicely packaged and easy to use piece of software for anyone that has even the slightest clue about CSS for layout purposes. Within minutes I had a mockup created for a new site I am working on.

Let us see what the creators have to say about this useful piece of software;

"Layout Master for Windows brings you the ability to work quickly and intuitively with "positioning" in CSS. Using a simple drag and drop interface, and powerful properties editors, Layout Master is the most complete and affordable cross platform solution for developing web page layouts.

We haven't designed a tool to replace your existing HTML or web design tools of choice, simply one to compliment them. Our idea is that you use Layout Master to create and edit your page layouts, and your other tools for basic HTML and CSS editing. Layout Master is designed to be as un-invasive of your HTML as possible. Only the code you directly change using Layout Master is changed by Layout Master."

I would definitely recommend you check out this program if your considering swapping your site over to CSS.
