Happy New Year Everyone!
I saw in the new year at Seattle's Space Needle after a delicious meal at downtown Italian Restaurant Assaggio's. It was a great night and of course for those of you who care I documented it in my blog! I hope each and every one of you had a great New Year and that all of your hopes, dreams and plans are fulfilled this year.
You will notice I have altered the design of this issue a little. This was to make it easier to read the links which I am having problems setting the way I want. I also cut down the size of the one and only graphic. To round it off a text comment in the HTML header for people who aren't seeing the Newsletter displayed properly by their email client.
One thing I have been missing since my divorce is having a dog. On my visit to see Hayden, Karissa told me Annie our dog was now living with an aunt and uncle and although her eyesight is failing she is having a wonderful life. That was a great thing to hear. However I have always had dogs and although I get to spend time with Eric and Janice's dogs I have wanted my own. So Casey and I searched on the PetFinder web site, and although we have submitted for a couple of different dogs at the local shelter they have all been spoken for already. We then found the perfect dog, an Australian Shepard called Sydney that was rescued by the Heeling Hearts Australian Cattle Dog Rescue. She is coming from Eastern Washington so as long as the weather isn't too bad this weekend we will go and pick her up.
So on to the guts of the issue! I am going to have a new section that will follow the upgrade of an old computer. I am going to call it Project Step Up. Read on for more details. There will be a twist or two that you will want to stick around to see!
To round out this issue you will find the usual site reviews and other sections that make your Internet experience that little bit better (I hope!).
Have a great day!

Software Review: Eudora 6.0.1.1
Eudora would have to be one of the best known and oldest email clients around. Often touted as the alternative to Outlook, Eudora was always my second choice simply because I was forced to use Outlook at work. The final straw for me was the constant spam I was receiving that Outlook could not deal with without an add-on piece of spam software.
Eudora's paid version solves that problem in seconds! It's SpamWatch feature picks up 99% of spam with only the occasional legitimate piece of email being caught in the junk folder. At $39.95 for one year's worth of spam service, person-to-person customer support and program updates I thought it was a good investment. If you do not want the spam feature you can always go with the Sponsored Mode (includes unobtrusive small ads in the bottom left corner) and then Eudora is free! There is even a Light Mode that has fewer features activated yet no ads.
The next best feature is the ability to easily have multiple profiles, which allows you to have all of your email addresses set up independently yet in the same program. Couple this with the excellent filtering abilities and you can see why so many people love this email client.
If you are sick of your current email client, why not try Eudora now?

Definition: Liquid Lunch
A mainstay of Australian culture the Liquid Lunch is a favorite of workers, especially the beer swilling kind!
So substitute your sushi for a beer and you will have a lunch that may make you a bit tipsy.
Add on a pie and tomato sauce and you have an Australian classic!

Project Step Up: The Old Computer
This is a new section of the newsletter that I thought every single subscriber could benefit from. Who doesn't have an older computer that is too good to chuck out, yet doesn't have the grunt needed for your needs? Or who wouldn't like to upgrade a few components to get some extra kick and life out of your computer?
I hope that this new section will show you components you may like, while showing you just how easy it can be to upgrade your machine. I have at least three computer building or upgrading projects in mind so far, which should mean I have the content needed for this section for at least the rest of the year! If all goes well with NetBloke I can even see a project where a lucky subscriber will win the completed project. More on that project in a later issue, but note that only subscribers will be eligible!
What I would love is to see a few people follow this section and build as I do. That way you can share you experiences with the rest of the readers.
On to the first project. My girlfriend has an old PC that she put together from two old PCs. Pretty nifty really, however the machine is a bit slow now and really could use some extra grunt. So now I am slowly going to upgrade the machine one part at a time, hence Project Step Up!
NEXT WEEK: Current Computer Configuration

You're alive. Do something. The directive in life, the moral imperative was so uncomplicated. It could be expressed in single words, not complete sentences. It sounded like this: Look. Listen. Choose. Act.

Web Site Review: SitePoint.com
I revisited SitePoint a short time ago when I was stuck on a number of design issues with the NetBloke site and newsletter. In short the site is still amazing. It has some of the best forums, backed up with great articles and self published books.
I recommend this site to anyone who is building their own site. It is run by a trustworthy bunch of ex-Sausage staff who run their business professionally and more importantly with integrity.
Make certain you register for the forums. Do it now!

The Great Australian Joke
Christmas Bonus
Boss: Who said that just because I tried to kiss you at last month's Christmas party, you could neglect to do your work around here?
Secretary: My lawyer.
