G'day all you Blokes and Sheila's!
Remember me? NetBloke. That newsletter you subscribed to but have not received in a very long time. In fact the last issue went out in December. I have had quite a few emails asking me why and if I dropped off the face of the earth. Let me explain it quickly and calmly. My wife divorced me. For those of you who know me personally you already know this, for those who don't you do now.
Without getting into all of the crappy details, basically I got divorced, moved to Seattle, and had an early midlife crisis. That is where the little red sports car comes in. Seriously though, those of you who have gone through this sort of thing know what it is like. It ain't pretty even when you want to do it smoothly.
Now down to business. The NetBloke newsletter and web site are undergoing some major changes. I believe you will all like them, as they keep the spirit of the old newsletter intact while making it more useful for all of you.
For starters I have rebuilt the site to make use of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for the layout. No more tables! This means it will load faster for you. I am still playing around with it so you may notice changes if you frequent the site.
Next up I have had a blog (online diary/journal) going for a while. I currently need to fix the administrative backend however you can see I post almost daily news and views, from a professional, personal and philosophical perspective. I may use some of the content I post there in the newsletter.
Finally this newsletter. In the past it has included Web site reviews, Australian slang definitions, Software reviews, Questions and Answers and is normally polished off with a joke. I will be adding in a Media Review that will cover whatever I am watching or listening to in these three media; Film, DVD and CD.
I have a new catch phrase for NetBloke as well, "No Nonsense Net". I hope that sums up what I am about. Making the most of your Internet connection and your computer.
So this issue is just really a heads up of what is to come. I am using the full version of Newsletter Ease to handle everything from the creation of the newsletter to the management of your subscriptions. This is your chance to unsubscribe, or stick with me. Of course I hope you choose to stick with me. If you do your in for one great ride!
Have a bonza day mate!
Nathan Allan
Although this joke is a bit of a put-down for Aussie's I thought you might all like it as a light hearted way of signing off this brief issue!
