G'day!
Well I sure have been busy since we bought Sausage. The world is our oyster now and already there are 101 good ideas on the back burner. The trick I think is to stay focused on the task at hand. It is all about being a clever thinker.
This leads me on to this weeks Web site review. I have given you all an insight into my friend Dr Michael Hewitt-Gleeson, who is a cognitive scientist and author. How does this apply to the net and computers you ask? Well in my opinion everything you do is interrelated and in turn if you can think smarter, laterally and out side of the square, you will find yourself achieving more with your other pursuits. In this case with your computer and how you use it.
For those of you who give a hoot, I have also added some more pictures of my house and stuff to the gallery on the NetBloke site. Take a look at:

Did you take a look at Stuff last week? I know some of you did. For those of you who are Ebay treasure hunters, you may like to know that downunder we have a lot of hidden treasures too. You may just find some at Stuff.com.au.
By the way I am really happy with my computers performance since I added some of Crucial's memory. If you haven't already check them out: Crucial Memory
Yes the link above is an affiliate link. As always I am only going to run things like this when I like the product. Hopefully if you agree and click too, I might make a couple of bucks and start covering my cost of running NetBloke.
Finally as you will see on my Webcam I have friends in high places. Well Canada is pretty high up isn't it?

Yep that is how I feel at the moment! Pretty darn tired.
Are you in the market for a new computer? Have you ever thought about what you really need compared to what is the latest hot item?
Most home computer users want to use their computer for only a few tasks. My guess is that normally the following list would cover 75% of users.
Dr Micheal Hewitt-Gleeson started the School of Thinking back in the late seventies to early eighties after studying under Edward de Bono. The goal of the school is to teach thinking to the masses. In fact the School of Thinking was once quoted as being the McDonalds of thinking!
His Web site gives you some insight into the books he has written. The latest is about memes, a somewhat hot topic at the moment. They can all be read easily by the layperson, and the techniques discussed can be applied to any aspect of your life.
Personally I like his daily emails that motivate and reinforce the lessons within the books.
My particular favorite lesson is Ten Power. I use this in conjunction with CVSTOBVS (Current View of the Situation TO Better View of the Situation). Basically the premise is there is always a better view to be found, and by using Ten Power you think of ten alternative better views. From that list you pick the best one, which will probably not be what you first thought of (and what most people would go with).
Anyway that is the two-second version of the lesson! It has helped me own a company, move up through the ranks, be a more open-minded thinker and most importantly not set myself boundaries!

This issue I would love to know what you think is the single best thing about being on the Internet. Personally I think it is access to information. What do you think?

Answer
I asked last week about your online buying experiences. Everyone who did reply was very impressed by the various places they purchased from.
One reader actually suggested some places try too hard to please customers and in turn that could explain why they don't turn a profit! Amazon was the online retailer mentioned and the separate delivery of components of the order was the reason why there was concern that Amazon would have made money at all on the order.
Other people suggested that it is best to shop online with retailers that are accredited by the Better Business Bureau and the like. Not a bad idea at all I think.
A Canadian friend married to an Aussie sent in this joke. It contains some indecent language. So be warned. Still it is very Aussie and funny.
