G'day!
What a week full of turmoil. Like I said last week, I want to try to get back into some sort of routine, as hard as it might be. It is from a different perspective that I look at these events in America. In the past I would have been concerned, but now that I live here and have friends and family here as well it takes on a greater importance. It is times like this that Australia, remote as she is, looks very appealing.
So anyway, life must go on and at this point there is a heck of a lot of life coming from our two and half year old daughter, Hayden. (nice segue hey?) Well a few readers out there have kids, plus the rest of you have the potential for it, so you may all find this issue interesting to some degree. I sure hope so!
Personally I need to read a few of these sites and implement some of the advice!
So until next week seeya later!
Nathan Allan
Affectionate term used for the children. For example, "The little bugger ran over my foot with his tricycle!".
They may be little buggers but you still love them regardless!
If you have children who have access to your computer, but you do not want to allow them to have unrestricted access to the Internet you need to be running a program like NetNanny. What does it do? Well basically this is what the makers say it does:
The Web sites listed in this issue come recommended from many of your fellow readers, along with my wife and myself. So you are really getting the low down on sites that people are using practically every day.
This first site was recommended by a reader. It is a site that bases it values on Christian ways and teachings. It covers a wide range of topics for all age groups.
http://www.family.org
Another Christian based site is:
http://www.crosswalk.com
Publishers of the well-respected Daughters newsletter (so Larry Lynn a NetBloke reader tells me!) have this site:
http://www.dadsanddaughters.org
This is the site for the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Their Facts for Families brochures available are excellent I am told.
http://www.aacap.org
My wife Karissa uses this Web site a fair bit. So it must be good!
http://www.parenting.com
Again Karissa told me to mention this site. It appears to have recently joined the iVillage stable of Web sites, which may improve or detract from the feel of the site.
http://www.women.com
If you are in Canada you are in luck as a reader has told me of this Canadian Government Web site. Worth a look if you are a Canadian parent!
http://www.cio-bic.gc.ca/children-enfants/serv_e.htm
This site is more of a family health web site than parenting in particular, but it was recommended by a few readers so I thought it was worthy of inclusion. It has a wide range of topics covering every age group from newborn to one hundred!
http://www.drkoop.com
Part of iVillage, the Parent Soup Web site covers the basics but on the surface it seems to me that it does not have much depth or experts backing it up. Still I liked its structure and dynamic way of presenting information.

What Web sites do you use for your online purchases? (In particular Computer equipment.)
