Barenaked Ladies and Alanis Morrisete
Last night I was lucky enough to see the Barenaked Ladies and Alanis Morrisete at the white River Amphitheater here in Washington.
The Ladies have to be one of the best if not the best band I have ever since perform live.
The show was so good I am buying the official "bootleg" copy from the Ladies LIVE site.
If you are not a fan do yourself a favor and check out one of their albums.

Movie Review: Love Actually
So for Veteran's Day I went out and saw the movie Love Actually with my girlfriend. Probably categorized as a "chick flick" by most people, I found it to be an uplifting view of how the world is perpetuated by love.
The commentary at the beginning of the movie (which you will have to see, as I could not recite it as well here) really made me stop and think about the world.
Go with someone you love to see this flick. It is worth the price of admission. Oh and take tissues with you.

Movie Review: Matrix Revolutions
This was a great movie with less focus on the Matrix and more on reality. If your fan you should see it. If your not see the other two movies first to familiarize yourself with the storyline.
Aussies keep an eye open for the AMP building in the closing scenes (the film was made in Sydney).

CD: Barenaked Ladies - Everything to Everyone
The Barenaked Ladies new album (released yesterday), Everything to Everyone has been in my hands for one afternoon.
I bought it. I put it in the car CD. I worked on my car and listened. I drove my car and listened again. I sat and I listened.
The title is fitting. I haven't read what they were trying to do with this album but it seems they are making fun of a lot of different pop styles. As always the songs are fun and whimsical.
It is well worth adding to your collection. Oh and yes I am biased.

CD: Guster - Keep it Together
I was introduced to Guster when my ex-wife took me to a Barenaked Ladies concert at Universal Studios in California. Guster were the opening act and really set the feel for the night.
Ever since that performance I have been a fan. There latest release is called 'Keep it Together'and you may have even heard their single Amsterdam on the radio. The album is a collection of great songs that always lift my day as I drive along.
The guys have a great web site where you can sample and buy their music and merchandise. The latest album is enhanced and has some fun flash movies incorporated with the Amsterdam single.
Check them out at Guster.com

DVD: Old School
This was a movie I saw in the cinemas, then my friend Eric had a copy so I wanted to see what the extras were like on the DVD.
Firstly as far as the movie goes if you like Will Ferell and crude jokes you will like this movie. Actually it is worth seeing just for the streaking scene that features Will.
As for the extras on the DVD, there are some great deleted scenes, an Actor's Studio spoof with all the main actors and the director and some funny bloopers and outtakes. A nice set of extras that kept the laughs rolling for a little longer.
To sum up I think this is a great movie to sit down with a pizza and beer/wine and just have a good laugh!

Mama Mia
I was lucky enough to score a free ticket to see the production of Mama Mia at the Paramount in downtown Seattle last night.
I went with absolutely no expectations. In fact I was wondering how on earth the writers turned some ABBA songs into a musical.
Well anyway they pulled it off tremendously! It was a wonderfully fun musical with a coherent storyline. I would throughly recommend anyone considering seeing it to do so!

Bowling for Columbine
I saw this wonderful thought provoking documentary tonight with Karissa.
If only the masses watched things like this the USA may be a safer place.
I don't think I will bother watching American TV news anymore. The BBC World News for me from now on.
Perhaps doing that will lower my stress levels?
Please please please, if you have not seen this movie go see it.

Pay it forward
Just watched this DVD. I won't spoil it (for those who haven't seen it) but it really does make you realise that we can all make the world a slightly better place to be.
Just try and do something nice for one person today.

8 Crazy Nights
I was lucky enough to win a double pass (and so was Brian) to go to see 8 Crazy Nights. This is the animated feature from Adam Sandler. The tickets were courtesy of a competition run by Cup O Kryptonite. So I took my wife, Karissa, and we headed off.
It is a funny film but I do not know if I would have parted with money to see it. Plenty of laughs and songs to keep you entertained if you do go though. Personally I think this will be a great DVD, as I imagine the special features will be great.
Oh yeah the day in the life of Adam's dog (the name escapes me) short film is a riot as well.
We topped off the night with a coffee and a crepe (don't say that too quickly) at Chat Noir. This is a great restored house in the Sherman Hills neighborhood of Des Moines.
